Yesterday I had a pretty busy day, it was Friday and I was running around doing errands all over Los Angeles, from the Valley, to Hollywood and Westwood, and then I had to work until late. Kinda makes me sad to know that I didn't do any research today, I feel weird all of a sudden not doing it for a day. :)
However, late at night when I went to Ralphs, I did get the chance to donate to Haiti.
I also managed to set up two volunteer dates at the Ronald McDonald House for this coming Tuesday and Thursday morning! I'm sooo excited about this! Ya'll have no idea! I'm glad I finally get to do some hands on helping. I feel as though its more effective in my eyes. So hopefully if all goes well and I manage so to start waking up earlier in the morning, then I will set a schedule with the Ronald McDonald house to volunteer twice a week.
Yesterday I came across a few homeless people sitting outside of Rite Aid and I REALLLLY feel like I NEED to go to P.A.T.H. Shelter and get some of there business cards to pass out to each homeless person I see, I think that would be very effecting. They have a toll-free number on it and where ever this person in need is they will come and pick them up and bring them to the shelter. At the minimum they can take a nice warm shower, clean clothes and some food and leave if they dont feel comfortable sleeping there. I will do this sometime this week and see what help I can give the center.

Day 5
Today was just a great day!
It was my best friend Morgan's birthday today and every year for both of our birthdays we have this tradition of hanging out with each other the entire day. So today we decided to get our nails done, we left the car in the parking lot and decided to take a walk on the beach which ended up taking us to Venice Beach. We walked around, shopped a little, and got some matching henna tattoos. We came across fun quotes, saw beautiful art and walked. I love just walking, I find it refreshing, maybe thats why I love NYC so much. It doesnt matter where you walk, but walk. Your body needs it and so does Mr.Earth.
While we were there I got a call back from the Ronald McDonald House on the volunteering position. I was so excited and happy! I scheduled to come next Wednesday for training. After training I can come in and volunteer when ever I want! She said that most volunteers greet the new families in and help show them around. I asked about activities like reading to the children and playing with them and she said it was all up to me as what I wanted to do, it can be spontaneous or a big planned event like a Bingo night. I CANT WAIT! I have some serious fun ideas! I'm gonna be the next PATCH ADAMS!!! ;) She told me that these are the illest children in the world and that right across the RMH they have a hospital for emergencies or for daily treatments =( I strongly believe that through joy and laughter you can extend a person's life.

After dropping her off, I went to my interview for the ocean pollution project, which I need to come back to tomorrow morning.
On my way back, I decided to get gas from the Eco-Friendly ARCO gas station on 8770 W. Olympic Blvd. For those of you who have never been there or seen it, it's actually really beautiful! It's all made out of recycled material, it has a futuristic design that's all sliver, rainbow and funky. It's super cute! While your pumping gas, there is a tv screen attached to each station with little facts on how to save gas, energy and more. I actually read about this yesterday in my environmental book that if you cleaned out your car with all the things you have in the trunk or backseat, you can actually save 1-2 gallons each time! Now I dont know about you, but I keep an actual closet in my backseat haha, so let's save $ and gas, and clean out our cars.
Also they had little postcards, that were of course made out of recycled paper, it was actually funny feeling paper, but I loved the idea.
One of the postcard said "Activating the sleep mode on your computer uses up to 70% less electricity than using a screen saver." lol I actually read that too in my book yesterday haha. Let's save energy people and our computer's life line!
Another fun fact "Switch to cleaning products that are biodegradable and non toxic. 62% of cleaning products found in the average American home equal 10 gallons of harmful chemicals."
So that was my good deed of the day for our beautiful world!
My best friend and I came up with the idea today of going to P.A.T.H. the homeless shelter and getting some business cards from them and actually passing them around to homeless people!!! I think its a genius idea! PATH actually picks up homeless people off the streets that actually want help. I really need to do this. Especially right now with the economic crisis more people are homeless then ever and its been a cold winter at night this year, so I really want to help as many people as I can.

Day 3
Hiiiii!!!
Well tonight was an interesting night. I was working all day and decided to met a friend at our usual cafe shop. At around 11:06pm I had this random idea, of going to see Avatar. I quickly searched showtime and found a 11:40pm in City Walk. We were in Santa Monica and it was already 11:17pm. We rushed to pay the check and ran out of there! We drove 2 separate cars and decided that it would be fast if I parked my car near the freeway in Sherman Oaks.
I parked my car somewhere on Ventura and I got into his car. When we were on the corner of Ventura and Van Nuys, we sat at a red light. For a second I saw a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk about 3 lanes over, I had this crazy idea of running out of the car while waiting for the light to turn green and giving him $4, there were no cars in the streets so I figured it would be perfect! But the moment I had taken out the money the light turned green =(
We rushed to the theater like two robbers, speeding, running through the parking lot and across City Walk, it was already 11:48pm and as we get to the box office they tell us there is only 1 seat left! I was in shock and of course highly doubted the fact at there is just ONE seat left! I asked to speak to the manager and he was kind enough to let me check the theater for seats. As I figured, there were a few seats opened but all random. My friend saw a few opened seats and told me to seat in them, meanwhile he went to pay and get me 3D glasses.
When I got there, this one guy told me that he was saving these seats for his friends, I was annoyed that he was saving 6 seats and the manager told me I can sit there, so I told him that and sat. His friends came by a few mins later and sat down. Then about a minute later, another guy comes up claiming that he went to get food for him and his girlfriend and now has no seat. He started arguing with the guys and they were arguing with me. DRAMA in the theater!
I am naturally a stubborn person who will stop at nothing to get what she wants, but I felt sooooo bad! This guy ended up moving to the very front row with his gf. I think the part that got to me, is that he so reasonable and sweet. I started feeling so bad that I actually started to physically feel it. I couldn't focus on the movie, all that was going through my mind on repeat was "poor guy! I'm such a bitch!" 15mins later, I got up and told him to move back to his originally seat and left the movie.
It sucks to drive 30miles to a sold out show, but I couldn't enjoy doing something on someone else's misery. So we left. I ended up getting a free movie pass and our money back! =D turned out to be a pretty cool deal after all.
On the way back to my car, I decided that if the homeless person is still there, that I would get him some In&Out. When we drove closer to him we realized he wasn't homeless hahahaha! He was just a hippy with his guitar! I was bombed out, but the moment I was about to give up, fate came to me!
I saw a homeless lady! I screamed out loud YESSSSSSSSS!!!! haha ;)
We ended up getting her 2 hamburgers (1 for today & another for tomorrow), fries, and then I went to the gas station and got her chips, crackers and a big water bottle because I figured it would be more useful then a cup of coke that would go bad in a day, plus hellllo people! RECYCLE! That's what its all about!
I got out of the car and gave it to her and she wished me a Happy New Year and blessed me. She had the biggest smile on her face ever! =D It was wonderful!
Tonight I also managed to actually write Oprah a letter about my project!!!
YUPPPP! I decided today that I'm gonna be on the Oprah show this year! You shall all see!
The tricky part about writing her, was that I can't use over 2000 letters! Do u know how hard that is!?!?! Let me tell u! It took me 2hours if not more! My original message to her was 5532 letters! I had to do alot of editing. 2hours worth. Notice how I wrote "worth" because it was all worth it.
Off to bed, ta ta!

The Last day of the year
I wokeup feeling happy and not having a single clue as to what my New Years plans were. For the first time in years I had no idea what I was doing for New Years and it kinda made me smile. Ususally on New Years I'm either in Vegas or New York City but this year I decided that the way I want to celebrate my New Year is the way I want to live my next year, I orginally planned to honestly dress up for myself, drink a good glass of wine, and watch the ball drop in Time Square or I wanted to spend it with someone that means a lot to me. Sometime in the afternoon I decided to text one of my bestest friend's of many many years and greatly enough she had no plans. She loved the idea how of staying home and celebrating just us.
I then went to "my" private beach in Malibu. It was a beautiful day out and I wanted to go to my one of my favorite places in the world and write my New Year resolution and reflect on the past year. I always go to the McDonald's across the street and get a Hazelnut iced coffee and a large fries, but this time I also decided to get 3 sugar cookies as well.
As I sat down and found a spot, I had called my mommy in Israel to wish her a wonderful New Year, tell her how much she means to me and how much I loved her, I noticed this homeless man. Now I've been coming to this beach for a few years now and there is always this homeless man there that hangs around. He has these terrrrrrible open wounds all over his legs, its so bad that when you look at it, you literally feel the blood rush to your head.
After I got off the phone with her I looked over at him, I couldn't eat anymore, and felt so horrible that I wanted to give him my food and try to help in any way I can. I saw him reading a book and was so curious as to what he was reading and I guess at the same time surprised that he still can and does read.
When the time came to leave I was contemplating on weather I should just go up to him and give him the food, or maybe leave it near the trash can so that I dont make him feel as though I'm belitting him or make him uncomfortable.
I decided that I'm just gonna put it near the trash can and as I got ready to leave, he said "Happy New Years to you!", I looked at him with such shock that although homeless, he still knew the date and year. I smiled and said "Happy New Years to you too!" he thanked me and said "G*d bless u", I then said "Can I ask you something.... what happened to your legs?" He told me that he had an accident and it just spread. He then asked me if I believed in G*d and I said of course. He told me that his leg got infected 9months ago and that he was gonna die, he had no doubt about it. He knew his life was ending. He told me that since that day he prays everyday to G*d and that he reads the Bible everyday and just prays, and slowly it has been going away. These wounds seriously were all over his lower part of his legs, whines about 6 inches long! He had also told me that he was Jewish and that his mom had survived the Holocaust and that he was born in Jerusalem in the 50's and said that if he's mom had survived the Holocaust that he could survive this. It was just amazing to me. I kinda told him about law of attraction and to picture his leg the way it was before and to keep praying and it will go away. I also told him about this story that I saw in the news a few days ago about a boy maybe 14years old that had gotten 65% of his body burned by his classmates. This boy was told that he was gonna die and if he survives that he will never be able to walk again. This happened on Oct.12th if I remember correctly. His mom told her son that she doesnt want to know what in details happened to him but that she just wants to focus on the positive and the present time, rather then the negative past. She asked all close family and friends to keep praying for her son. Surely enough this boy was able to walk out of the hospital by Christmas! amazing mircale! I believe in them! and just speaking to this homeless person that showed me that half of his leg is healing and telling me that he is already starting to burely feel any pain made me want to cry with a smile.
As I was gonna leave, very causally I asked if he wanted the food because I wasnt hungry and I dont want to throw it away, I could tell he felt a little unsure of what to say and then said yes. I gave it to him and wished him true happiness. He thanked me for taking the time to recognizing his exsistance, for my kind words and stories, and blessed me.
As I walked away, I turned around one last time and saw him eating the food super fast as though he hasnt ate his entire life. I couldnt help but burst into tears.
He changed my life and really touched me. =*)
I then went to Barnes and Noble because one of my New Years resolutions is to read 10 pages a day from a book. Think about it, 10 pages a day is nothing! But think of a month, 30 days, reading 300 pages a month is like reading at least 12 books a year. Most people havent even read 5 books since they finished High School for there own enjoyment. You'd be surprised.
So I took it upon myself to educate myself even more than I already know! One of the books I picked up was "The Wisdom of Judaism", I'm excited to read it! The other was Kabbalah for Dummies and on my way out I saw a little box on discount that read "THE EARTH BOX: Be a Planet Hero" I got that too =)
Funny enough I opened it today and it has a book in it that's called "Planet Hero! 365 Ways to Save the Earth"! Law of attraction. How ironic is that! =D
I ended up having a wonderful New Years. I watched the ball drop in Time Square. I then went to Shelly's house, where I made us 2010 headbands from a used poster she had and cut out the handles of a Urban Outfitter's bag put some eye shadow on it to make it shine, and waaalaaaa! 2010 headhands! Its about Recycling!
We baked a cake, had some wine, took many pictures, and laughed till our stomachs hurt! It was wonderful! I couldnt have done it any better. No club, city, or party was better then spending the night with someone I care and love so much.
